Every serious skateboarder had one either in their driveway or on their street.
The jump ramp although present in skateboarding today, really had a brief history in the spotlight. There a re alot of variations of the jump ramp, and lets talk these out....
there was the ever present kicker ramp, basically a standard launcher, then the kicker one side flat bank other. and if you were lucky there was the 6 inch platform on top.
We opted for the 4ft high super kicker, the fun never stopped and neither did the flat landings. Mainly we would just goof around on them, with early grab this early grab that....once in awhile though you would have the locale ripper, in our case it was Justin, and he would literally destroy that ramp in one afternoon. I clearly remember him doing 360 judos, methods over our head. Clearly a natural, and amazing at everything he skated, those of you who read this and know who I'm referring to clearly will remember the onslaught he would bring to every session.
Back to jump ramps, the versions are out there and when you build one you need to think long term, will this ramp double as a wallride ramp, and what is the perfect size...3 ft, 4ft anywhere in there should be good.
Just if you build... build with a nice kick in it to get you up there.......
I guess the last thing to state is that jump ramps never really went anywhere they just evolved, have you ever seen the mega ramp.....thats basically it i guess, jump ramps in their prime.
...if you rode them you know how fun they were.
@ 5:13 in the video the jump ramp action starts.
