Slappy Grinds!

Today we discuss slappy grinds.....who invented it? I believe it was the legendary skater Slappy Grinderson, but I could be wrong.

This trick was born from the ashes of destroyed skateparks around the globe. When the first generation skateparks started to be torn down, skateboarders who had been riding ramp and bowl, started moving their tricks to the street. A natural choice was to use a nicely painted curb as the coping, hence creating the various versions of lip tricks done on a curb.

A not long after Lucero had decided to wax a curb, and as you know wax has become a staple in the street skaters arsenal. with the launch of the everslick we were all on our way to skateboard freedom, and the ability to have the natural city environment as our skatepark....

after time slappys started moving from the curbs to anything you can roll up on...pole jams, curved rails that go from the ground up, bicycle racks etc.

see below for some slappy and curb skate footage.
